The first type of blogs is typically verbose with a lot of emotional input. The second is typically more to the point and concise, similar but obviously not the same with Twitter posts.
I'm not saying that any is superior, but that the two types are generally mutually exclusive. The reason is simple. For the first type of blogs, what the reader wants is the awe and sharing of a life story to give a "reading a novel" effect. Their readers look for inspiration that can be attained from reading them. For the second type, the reader usually wants the gist of the posts. The faster the reader "gets" something, the better, see Daring Fireball as an example. This type of blog readers, of which I am a member, typically do not have an abundance of time, and tend to skip the first type of blogs. Especially the blogs where poems count as posts. Being too verbose and "boring" makes me skip them altogether.
Maybe that explains why I don't read novels too, instead reading non-fiction exclusively. Or maybe not. Feel free to give an opinion if you have one.
