Training Log - July 1 2009 (PM)

Again, continuing with a "break" theme of training. Only small progressions. Fillers consisted of diamond push-ups (5 reps) or L shoulder presses (5 reps with only 5 kg DB's). To close out the session I did 10 reps of diamond pushups.

Lunges:
40 kg (20 kg in each hand) - 3 sets of 6 for each leg
90 sec - filler - 90 sec

Single leg Romanian deadlifts:
20 kg (20 kg in opposite hand) - 3 sets of 6 for each leg
90 sec - filler - 90 sec

And that was it.

Notes:
1) 5 kg is yes, very light, but I've always used to have pain doing "lateral raise" - like movements. The first set was painful, but consequent sets weren't. If I want to do these, I'll keep it at this weight for a while.

2) Never did narrow pushups before; I'd always fail to get even 1 rep despite being able to perform pushups with a high number of reps. A nice closed-chain alternative to closed-grip barbell bench presses, and is definitely of lower risk to shoulder health than dips.

3) Saw a guy curl 5 kg dumbbells, followed by flexing in the mirror. I could only smile. Dude, my arms are bigger than yours when they're relaxed. Go do your chinups. 5 kg dumbbell curls are for my 8-year old daughter, when I have one.
