1) I think that many people underestimate the significance of other people's personal goals. Living a life of altruism is good and all that, but the easier way to gain much more satisfaction in life is by achieving some "selfish" personal goals. Ignoring these would lead to demotivation, and an unwillingness to work for others.
2) It was a lucky week for me, getting 2 case presentations in a week, both of which are unplanned. I'm having a knack for clerking patients without writing down my clerking notes, and simply presenting them just from memory. It won't be too good for exam purposes, but excellent for the future houseman years. I think I'd like to perfect this art inspired from Dr Sham Su Lia, hopefully making a transition to remembering clerking notes + investigation results from my hippocampus only, without looking at the patients' files.
3) I'm still a bit unmotivated to study, despite knowing that my knowledge of surgery is severely lacking. Is it physical fatigue, indifference, or something else? My days know only consist of reading the Internet (lots and lots of it), and training stuff, so there's not supposed to be much of distractions. Should I try playing Wesnoth + reading (like I did in the past) just to get some reading in?
4) Zaim did well presenting the Islamic input..
5) And so far in retrospect I'm very much enjoying a year of becoming a nobody (becoming the strongest asshole in UIA won't make you recognized). And having Abe do 5/3/1 with a Boring but Big setup is working; he's feeling the hunger from the need to eat. To get big.
Training (supposed to be at least 1 rep on final set of main lifts this week):
Mon:
Deadlifts - Up to 112 kg x 9 reps. Aimed for 5. Stopped because of grip.
Tue:
Bench Press - Barely made 69 kg x 5 reps. Bench pressing after all out pulling does that.
Thu:
Front Squat - Up to 77 kg x 5 reps, all straight reps. Fixed my grip issue by putting my hands just outseide my shoulders, and angling the elbows inwards towards each other. This allowed me to have my arms parralel to the floor. Being short compared to Westerners, 5 ft 4 in with 14 in arms, makes it impossible to clean grip the bar with elbows in line with the hands; the elbows just can't bend that much.
As a nice bonus, one of the bodybuilder-type members acknowledged the lift as being pretty good. Other than Abe and I who do full ass to calves front squats, the only people who do squats here are that guy's gang who does quarter back squats. But he's old and ripped (probably at least 50), so that is actually a complement.
Fri:
Overhead Press - Up to 41 kg x 9 reps. It's the last training day of the week, so I was feeling "let's trash this body".
Followed by 3 x 5 chinups, and 1 chinup hold for 10 sec, just to fry everything up.
Result - I'm feeling like a pile of shit ran over by a train, and goodie, next week is deloading week, of which I'll add conditioning into every training day.
Weight at end of the week: well, last time I checked it was 83.5 (early morning weight).
